2. It's officially the world against Patty Stranger from Millionaire Matchmaker (One of my favorite shows!) She's always been insulting people, and finally the majority of people are hurt.

Check out this article on it from YAHOO.

(Yahoo! Buzz) — The host of Bravo's "Millionaire Matchmaker" is under fire. On Sunday night, Patti Stanger appeared on the network's call-in show, "Watch What Happens Live," and made disparaging comments about Jewish and gay men. This was just the most recent example of Stanger making controversial statements.

While speaking about open long-distance relationships, Stanger remarked, "In the gay world, it will always be open... There is no curbing the gay man." After that, she turned to the program's openly gay host, Andy Cohen, and said, "I have tried to curb you people." She also stated that "Jewish men lie."
The comments about gay men came as a shock to many, as Stanger has gone on record as supporting the gay community. She campaigned on behalf of gay marriage and appeared on a NOH8 advertisement.
[Video: Watch Clips of Patti on 'The Millionaire Matchmaker']
"Matchmaker" Patti Stanger put her stiletto in her mouth once again (Tommy Garcia/Bravo) This isn't the first time Stanger left her filter at home. Last week, Stanger spoke on the TV program "New York Live," where she shared her views on the women of the Big Apple. She called New York females "city snobs" and then suggested that women are better off hiding their intelligence in front of men. "You've got to dumb it down a little because men are not that bright," Stanger said.
The comments have not gone over well with the general public. Almost immediately following her appearance on "Watch What Happens Live," the angry tweets started rolling in. Reality TV Magazine writes that after a recent episode of "Millionaire Matchmaker," a slew of tweets went up, "most of which were demanding that Patti Stanger be fired."
Many of the tweets aren't suitable for family viewing. However, this one sums up the general feeling: "All I have to say about Patti Stanger is ew, just ew." But not everyone thinks this is news. Questioning the outrage, one person writes, "Why is it news that Patti Stanger was/is offensive? That's Patti."
Web searches on the outspoken host soared. Over the past 24 hours, online lookups for "patti stanger" jumped over 212%. Related lookups on "patti stanger show" also spiked. She may not be making any friends, but she is making news.

So what do you guys think of Patty?

Bubbles for Charity!

Dear Diary,

Why did I start off with "Dear Diary", anyways? Well, according to a random trusted website, today is National Dear Diary Day! It's on the internet, so it's got to be true! Right? Haha. Anyways...

Whether we like it or not, school has started again. Chances are, you're seeing multiple teachers a day. So, what better way to appreciate them than purchasing a Charity Bubble Bath from Philosophy? Philosophy's Sweet to the Core shower gel is a 3 in 1 gel that leaves your hair and body smelling like sour green apple candy. Philosophy states, "It's bright lime green color and burst of green apple flavor makes for fun, exciting bubbles!" Fun, exciting bubbles? Sounds great to me! It also features an adorable chalk board design that says "Teachers are a gift". And they truly are. 100% of Philosophy’s net proceeds from the sale of Sweet to the Core goes to PBS.You can even give it to your favorite teacher!

So check it out! For only $20 you could make a teacher jumping with joy.

Speaking of teachers...What's the nicest thing a teacher has ever done to/for you?

Happy Dear Diary Day!

Operation Beautiful

What reflective object do you hate the most?
MIRRORS.

Well, don't hate them. Because Guess What?!

About a year ago, I read about Operation Beautiful in AllYou Magazine. Last night, after recalling the name of it, I did a little bit of research on it and found the official website. Here she states:

The goal of the Operation Beautiful website is to end negative self-talk or “Fat Talk.”  If this little blog only does one productive thing, I hope it helps readers realize how truly toxic negative self-talk is  — it hurts you emotionally, spiritually, and physically.

I began Operation Beautiful by leaving positive messages on the mirrors of public restrooms — at work, at the gym, at the grocery store.  I scribble down whatever comes to mind — "You are beautiful!" or "You are amazing just the way you are!"  My personal goal is to leave as many Operation Beautiful notes as I can. Maybe some people read them and just smile, but I bet some people are truly touched by the effort of a random stranger.

Are you as touched as I am? The thought that a simple note can reach a person's heart just makes me smile. Now, are you wanting to participate as much as I am?

Send your own Operation Beautiful Note to Caitlin at OperationBeautiful@gmail.com, and it will be posted on the site. If you have a blog, be sure to include a link!  It takes about three weeks for a photograph to show up on the site, so be patient! :)

Write a motivating note on a post it and put it up in a public place– such as on a bathroom mirror, in the gym locker room, or even on a random car’s windshield.  If you want, you can write the web address www.OperationBeautiful.com on the bottom so other women can find the site!

IMG_0815So, go ahead. Make somebody's day! Grab a post it note, a pen, and your heart and start sticking! Let's end "Fat-Talk" and make everyday a good day!

Shany Cosmetics Boutique 40 Color Shadow Palette

Some hot day in August I was visiting a local salon claiming to be having a huge end-of-summer-sale with my best friend. I walked into their tiny "Boutique" section and carefully looked at each item there. I found some $1 necklaces (they weren't that cute) and some $5 ugly T-Shirts, but nothing special. I then looked back, only to find a  sleek shadow palette containing flamboyant shadows! I swatched a few on my arm, and after reading the price tag of $5, I knew I had to get it! Ann (not-justapretty-face.blogspot.com) and I each paid $2.50. We skipped home with a smile on our faces and our "Shananay" in our arms.

*Tear* *Tear* What a good story! And for the record, it's Shany, but we like to call it Shananay!

I find this palette very interesting. Each individual shadow happens to have a different level of smoothness and pigmentation. The acid yellow wasn't smooth, but it was very pigmented. The metallic turquoise was very smooth and very pigmented! In fact, all of the metallics were pigmented! It all depended on the color you wanted to use. Although, I did find out that any natural-looking shade didn't have much pigment. Now to the overview....Oh, and speaking of! Are there any other "overview" categories that you would like me to always add? COMMENT :D

I know what you're thinking! "Holy Crap, Gabby! You got your
camera back!" Sadly, no. This is an edited picture from their website.

PRICE: Regularly $16.99

PROS
  • Comes with 40 eyeshadows
  • Sleek, modern casing
  • Most colors are very pigmented
  • Metallics are very smooth
  • Great value!
  • Creates an endless variety of looks (In fact, I only need this and false lashes for my Halloween makeup!)
  • Doesn't irritate my sensitive eyes
  • Minimal eyeshadow fallout
  • Variety of finishes (matte, metallic, etc.)
CONS
  • Some colors are so not smooth that I have to scrape them to get color (Hello, STUPID WHITE)
  • Not all colors are super pigmented (but most are...)
You may like this if...
  • You are looking for a cheap palette with a variety of colors
  • You want pigmented shadows
  • You want a palette with a variety of finishes (matte, metallic, etc.)
  • You already love Shany Cosmetics
You may dislike this if...
  • You want all of the shadows to be smooth
  • You already hate Shany Cosmetics
  • You are crazy and like to pay tons of money for palettes

Clinique Color Surge Shadow Duo in Pink Slate

I"M BACK!

After purchasing concealer and a chubby stick, I was sent home in August with a nice mini eyeshadow duo (with blush, too) and other miniscule gifts from Bonus Time. Luckily, I got this eyeshadow duo for free. This duo certainly lived up to its name "Pink Slate". The matte pink was actually rather chalky (a coincidence, I think not!) and was not pigmented at all. Sadly, the brown, just like the pink, was very lacking in the pigmentation department. Unlike most Clinique shadows, these ones were hard, not blendable, nor were they smooth. I know I didn't end up with a bad batch because I actually have two Pink Slate duos and they both posess the same disappointing qualities. *Sigh* Since this was a bonus, you might want to go and test the real full-size Pink Slate to see if it is as I say.

The bonus I got in late August. Isn't the bag adorable?!

PRICE $18.00

PROS
  • I got it for free :P
  • Is buildable (if you have patience)
  • Very sheer (possible pro for some)
CONS
  • Very chalky
  • Not pigmented
  • Not long-lasting
  • Not smooth like normal Clinique shadows
You may like this if...
  • You want to wear eyeshadow, but want it to look like there is nothing on (Trust me, it'll look like NOTHING)
  • You already like Clinique shadows
You may dislike this if...
  • You do not like Clinique shadows
  • You don't want a chalky shadow
  • You like pigmented shadows (Hello, Normal Women!)
  • You love smooth shadows
  • You love blendable shadows
  • You are a normal beauty fanatic

I MISS YOU ALL.

Agh! Sorry, I've been gone so long. School + Homework + Distractions only I would be distracted by = no time for blogging. I don't really have the time right now to give you a HUGE blog post, but you deserve something. And that something is a random Family Fued Fact! (?)

Did you know...
The the number one answer for "Which animal do you wish never got on Noah's Ark?" was BIRDS. Seriously?! Americans really hate birds that much? Haha. I find that amusing.

Don't worry, I'm going to be posting like crazy soon. And ooh, when that camera FINALLY COMES BACK (it's been like two months...), tons of pictures and reviews.

HEY GUESS WHAT?!
You should email me all your beauty (and random...) questions! I'll answer the beauty questions here in a blog post once I get enough!

C Me Frown: Yes To Carrots C Me Smile Citrus Lip Butter

For a long time I have been wanting anything by "Yes To Carrots". Today, I finally mustered up the courage to actually spend some money. For $2.99, I picked up a bright Yes To Carrots C Me Smile Citrus Lip Butter. Well, thank goodness I also picked up a pack of Rainbow Mentos, for if I hadn't, you would C Me Frown! The moment this balm touched my lips I was filled with disappointment. There was no energizing citrus scent or aroma whatsoever, despite the fact that in contained many natural fruit oils. In fact, it had a horrible taste (and an iffy smell). The balm was kind of creamy, but not enough to make up for its horrible taste and smell. It was actually quite moisturizing. I am familiar with many balms that do a great job, though, so it's not that amazing. I most definitely will not be repurchasing this flavor again. I might give Berry a chance..MIGHT.

INGREDIENTS: COCOS NUCIFERA (COCONUT) OIL*, OLEA EUROPAEA (OLIVE) FRUIT OIL*, BEESWAX*, SIMMONDSIA CHINENSIS (JOJOBA) SEED OIL*, LIMONENE*, HELIANTHUS ANNUUS (SUNFLOWER) SEED OIL*, BUTYROSPERMUM PARKII (SHEA BUTTER), CITRUS GRANDIS (GRAPEFRUIT) PEEL OIL, TOCOPHEROL, CITRUS AURANTIUM DULCIS (ORANGE) OIL, CITRAL, CITRUS AURANTIUM DULCIS (ORANGE) PEEL EXTRACT, CUCUMIS MELO CANTALUPENSIS (MELON) SEED EXTRACT, CUCURBITA PEPO (PUMPKIN) SEED EXTRACT, DAUCUS CAROTA SATIVA (CARROT) ROOT EXTRACT*, LINALOOL.

^See?! So many fruit oils, so little flavor!

Price: $2.99 for 0.15oz

Pros
  • Slightly creamy
  • Moisturizing (Average)
Cons
  • Has a horrible taste
  • Costs as much as the amazing Burt's Bees Balms
  • Has no Citrus aroma whatsoever
  • Has no Citrus taste whatsoever
You make like this if....
  • You already love Yes To Carrots Lip Butter
  • You have no tastebuds :D
You may dislike this if...
  • You're a normal human being
  • You hate Yes To Carrots Lip Butter
  • You want a good-tasting lip balm
  • You want an actual Citrus lip balm

Fashion Week: Colored Powder Hair?

Runways are commonly known for their crazy hairstyles and wacky fashions, but this might've just topped them all! At the Thakoon show during Fashion Week, models walked down the runway with neon powder in their hair. This look was created by Odile Gilbert for Kerastase. The inspiration? A hair technique commonly used in India that involves a vast amount of pink clay.

What do you think? Would you EVER try this?
Because I know that I would end up reserving this look for a lonely Saturday...

Warm Vanilla Sugar: Lusciousness in a Bottle:)

Warm Vanilla Sugar® Shea Cashmere Hand Cream - Signature Collection - Bath & Body WorksWarm Vanilla Sugar® Shea Cashmere Hand Cream - Signature Collection - Bath & Body Works
After trying one of my friend's hand cream from Bath and Body Works, I  just knew I had to get myself one--or two. These hand creams were the thickest, creamiest, and most luxurious ones on the market! She owned the new scent, "Carried Away", and it positively divine. I was tempted to pick one up with its gorgeous floral packaging, but Warm Vanilla Sugar was just calling my name with its delectable vanilla aromas. I am so glad I got to pick up one! It's scent always reminds me of winter, and cozying up by the fire. I think that vanilla smells amazing and this hand cream just made it even better! You pick up tons of vanilla, but swirled into it are a few woody aromas. I honestly have no clue wahat "basmati rice water" is, but I sure know that I don't pick up any in this hand cream. Okay, back to the texture! This hand cream takes your hands to Cloud 9! You know those thick and rich Betty Crocker frostings? Well this hand cream is literally just that for your hands! It's wonderful! And oh, duh! You're hands are left super smooth. THe bottle looks really small, but truly, you only need a tiny dot to give your hands deep hydration.

Price: $10.00 for 2.5oz of LUSCIOUSNESS:)

PROS
  • As thick as Betty Crocker Frostings...Yumm...
  • Your hands are left supple
  • The fragrance lingers on hands all day
  • The scent smells amazing (Vanilla with a few woody notes)
  • A little goes a long way!
  • Comes in a variety of scents (I only wish they were flavors...)
CONS
  • SMELLS GOOD ENOUGH TO EAT (This may result in death if swallowed.)
  • Some may find it pricey, but for how much you need per use, IT'S NOT.
You make like this if...
  • You already love BBW Hand Creams
  • You are looking for a winter scent in a hand cream (yet I use it in all seasons)
  • You are looking for a super-moisturizing hand cream that WORKS
  • You already love the Warm Vanilla Sugar scent
You make dislike this if...
  • You hate hand creams
  • You hate BBW
  • You hate the Warm Vanilla Sugar Scent
  • You're crazy....:)

A Clueless Girl's Guide to Hair: The Fishtail Braid

Never have I been good at hair. I could't even make straight hair look good. Finally, I consulted with my stylist (hung out with my friend who is good at hair)and I was partially cured of this sickness. For the longest time, the art of the fishtail braid was a mystery to me. Until now. She taught me every last trick of the braid, and might I say it looked amazing at the end. It was rather thick at the top, and gradually got thinner and thinner. Do not fear, you are not chopped liver. I'm going to attempt to share the secrets to the making of the mysterious fishtail braid. My friends who lack skill in the hair department and I will finally spice up our style.

A Clueless Girl'S Guide to The Fishtail

1. Brush your hair.

2. Give your hair a deep side part to the left. Use a brush or your fingers.

3. Take all of your hair and put it over your right shoulder.

4.  Seperate your hair into two pieces. Make sure to keep these pieces seperated the whole entire time. Let's give both a name to make the rest easier. The one closest to your back and your right shoulder will be "Right" and the one closest to your front and your left shoulder will be "Left"
NOTE: Yes, in the picture "Right" is on the left, but when you're actually doing your own hair, the Right one will be on the right and vice versa.

5. Take out a 1/4 inch section of hair from the "Right" section and put it on the inside of the "Left" section. Then, take the same amount from the outside of the "Left" section and put it on the inside of the "Right" section.
THEN

6. Continue to do ths until you are all done with your hair. If you want a fishtail that gradually thins, use less and less hair when transferring. So, do a few 1/4 inch pieces for BOTH SIDES for 2-4 rounds (round= 1 transfer from Right, then 1 transfer from Left). Then use 1/5 inch pieces for about 2 rounds. Get gradually smaller and smaller until you finish.

7. If you want a more loose and messy braid, slightly pull the braid apart from the middle. Grab the middle and pull both ways.

Vanessa's hair is a perfect example of the end result of a Fishtail braid.

Hope this helped you! See you next time when I write another "Clueless Girl's Guide to Hair".
